2 cork trivets
1 purple block
his favorite book
After he went to bed we figured we’d better check the trash for anything else he might have thrown out. We then found a sippy cup and 3 more blocks.
I should’ve known this would happen when the other day I applauded him so for picking up a crumb on the floor and throwing it away. It was really cute at the time, but acting like a lunatic over it may have started a little game. Regardless… I think I’ll stop looking for his sunglasses that disappeared a few weeks ago…

things my kid threw away today
pressing pause
As August 15 quickly approaches, and my list of things to do grows by the minute, I’m reminded of the old Maggie. She’d be running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off to decorate a classroom, plan, and cram in the last things on the summer bucket list. Not anymore. This little one has changed it all. He’s definitely taught me that I need to press pause, and push the list to the side more often. My room will be cute and welcoming, and plans will be made. While the deadline is approaching…you only get snuggles for so long. Thanks for the perspective, little smooshy.

a teddy graham intervention?
Until now Cheerios or Goldfish were a loved snack by the wee one. If I was feeling a little crazy, I’d even give him a little mix. He recently had the taste of Teddy Grahams and he’s hooked. If I dare mix any of the three together, Oscar now very intentionally pulls out all of the unwanted snack (anything but those little yummy bear crackers that even Greg can’t get enough of). From now on only one kind of snack in a cup at a time, to avoid any more crumbly fish protests.

He is crazy for them, signing “please” violently if he even sees a bag. Oscar too!
I can’t blame the boys, they are tasty.

another goodie, brought to you by pinterest
Today’s lovely treat brought to you by Pinterest. If you’re not on there, you should be, and if you are… you know how incredible of a site it is. I got the recipe for oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies on there this week, and made them for yesterday’s family pool day. They were a hit. Guitar Boy actually requested I make them again for small group tonight. He didn’t have to twist my arm.
If you want, you can follow me on pinterest here.

lesson 137: how to woo a lady
We have regular “life lesson” discussions with Oscar. They cover topics like why he needs to eat his veggies, the importance of drinking milk, and how to woo a lady. Ok, maybe not the last one… but yesterday alone he gave his best buddy Hailey a flower and kissed her eyeball.
Then again, maybe he has had a talk with his dad about wooing.
peanut butter and cake
There are many a picture of my sister as a tot, with a jar of peanut butter under her arm.
If she and Oscar didn’t hit it off already…
Also, the library called yesterday and the much anticipated book on my hold list was waiting for me!
A cake for each state from California’s avocado cupcakes to New York cheesecake, and everything in between. I am so excited to bake my way across the good old U.S. of A. I’ll be starting my journey this weekend, and I’m thinking I’d be wrong to start with anything other than Hoosier Cream Pie… unless they have something with peanut butter. I wonder how many times I can renew this book? Maybe I should just ask for it for Christmas now.
Speaking of PB and cake. Check this cute cake out. I’ve been wanting to make it for a while but haven’t done it yet. Maybe after I bake my way through United Cakes of America I’ll find an excuse to make it.
frazee family fun
We spent Sunday with Greg’s family in Fayette county. It was exactly the day that we needed. We saw field after field of corn, got to celebrate two of our nephews’ birthdays (one of the two also being baptized that day! Yay Luke, we’re so happy for you!), watched Oscar chase a rooster all over the place saying “Whas’ dat?” (we really need to move out to the country), and later skiing and tubing fun for all. Did you know that Guitar Boy is quite the hot shot on skis? Well, he is. This was only my second time skiing, but like last time I was able to pop right up. Must be in the genes. :) We all had a blast! From a beautiful and peaceful drive to loads of fun with family, I sure hope we can get down there once more before school starts!

busy bee
As summer is winding down, I’m finding that I still have lots I want to do. Last week I made a skirt (from one of G’s shirts), freezer jam, and whipped up a few goodies of my newest obsession, Pinterest (where I got the idea and directions on how to make the skirt) You should check it out, but be prepared… you will spend lots of time on there and your “to do” list will grow and grow with all the neat projects and ideas.

Still lots to do in my last weeks home, like relax. Better get to it!

a hankerin’
This boy is going to eat us out of house and home.
He has a hallow leg.
He has a hankerin’ for… anything and everything.
Lately, Oscar will go to the fridge, sign “please”, and then cry. When you open the fridge he shouts “Oh my!” and smiles. Little stinker.
