baby’s first email

Our child can officially operate an iPhone. He’s enjoyed a few games on there for awhile, but now he’ll turn the phone on, open things, call people, he’s even deleted a few apps from my phone, and last night he drafted his first email.

aaaaaaaMEN!

Tonight Oscar prayed…on his own…randomly…in the middle of dinner.  He folded his hands jabbered for about 15 seconds, followed by a very loud “aaaaaaaaMEN!”

Tonight (and every night) our hearts are full, and we are amazed.

down on the farm

We spent some much needed time in Orange on Friday.  We spent the day relaxing around the farm, and the evening at the annual Orange Christian Church fish fry and songfest.  In a word, it was perfect.  Enjoy the pics from the day…

monkey see, monkey do

This picture is 100 kinds of awesome for a few reasons:

1. See Guitar Boy’s face?

2. See the babe’s face?

3. When Guitar Boy came home in his lumberjack plaid shirt, the babe ran to the couch (where a stack of folded baby laundry was), grabbed this sweatshirt, tugged on the sleeves of the shirt he was wearing and whimpered… so we put it on him not thinking too much of it.

4. When Guitar Boy changed, the babe immediately pulled on the sleeves of this sweatshirt and whimpered to take it off.  Think someone wants to be just like his daddy, already?  It is a good thing I think his dad is pretty rad, or else I’d be less than enthusiastic.

We’re no longer just mimicking animal sounds, folks… this boy gets it.

who could ask for anything more?

I love birthdays! In our house we believe in celebrating for a whole week, or longer, but today was enough by itself for this mama! The weather was my favorite, I received beautiful flowers from my parents, kind words from friends, and after work I spent the evening having a surprise picnic and playing in the park with my favorite boys (exact meal and location of when we got engaged 8 years ago). That husband of mine, he’s the sweetest! I am one lucky girl…and I’m taking a personal day tomorrow to continue the family festivities.

a one track mind

From sunrise to sunset Oscar has one thing on his mind:  taking a bath.  He’ll tell you too.

cloud nine

The sun is shining, there’s a nice breeze blowing, and it is the perfect temperature outside… unfortunately, days like today will begin winding down soon, so we wanted to take advantage of it.  When Daddy went back to church this afternoon, this mother-son duo was not going to let a runny nose, or a depressing Colt’s loss keep us inside.  Instead we headed outside, giggled, watched planes, drew with chalk, watched planes, giggled, blew bubbles, and watched a few more planes (each one exciting the babe as much as the first).

During it all, my constant thought was about how blessed we are.  Cloud nine doesn’t begin to explain it.

Also, I took roughly a zillion pictures.  When your subject is so stinkin’ cute, you can’t help it.

cowboy in training

1. Oscar loves his rocking giraffe and toy gun (mama is still deciding her feeling on the latter)

2. Oscar figured out to point said gun and go “psh-psh”

3. Oscar loves to yell “yee-haw!”

I may have tied Papaw Steve’s red hankie around his neck for added cuteness (as if he needed it)

Each day is something new with our little guy, and we are loving every minu…oh, hang on, the cowboy has an important call.

Having a boy is a rootin’ tootin’ (literally) time.

A few things are hard to believe, as I look at this picture:

1. we nearly have an 18 month old

2. it was cool enough this time last year to have the babe sport his cute new sweatshirt on an evening walk

3. how blessed we are to have had such a happy boy from day 1
